Non Destructive Testing by Print Molding
"PLASTIFORM®" products do not contain any chlorine, fluorine, nor sulfur. They are non-toxic and non-polluting and can be used without any particular restrictions. POLYMERISATION Polymerization time depends on the intrinsic characteristics of the 2 components. It may vary according to product temperature and room temperature, which should be approximately 20°C (68°F). Temperatures below 10°C (50°F) will not allow polymerization to occur, or the result may be incomplete. SHRINKAGE Less than 1 µ/mm under normal conditions. STABILITY The chemical and physical properties of "PLASTIFORM®" ensure that the print will not deteriorate with time nor will it be affected by external conditions. Hence, the print can be kept as a reference.
Specifications
D.A.V.: Has a flowing consistency and, like B.A.D., is primarily used to make total, internal prints of small and medium size parts. Due to its elasticity (20%), the specimen is easily removed from complex parts, important angles, grooves, etc… D.A.V. reproduces fine details faithfully. Softer (higher elasticity) prints are more difficult to slice with the special cutter. Prints are best measured as a whole.
S.O.F.T.: Has a thick, non-flowing consistency. It is primarily used to make internal or external prints, and sectional prints of small and medium size parts. Due to its elasticity (10%), the specimen is easily removed. S.O.F.T. reproduces fine details faithfully and is practical for surface reproductions. Prints are easily sliced with the special cutter.
J.A.D.: Has a thick, non-flowing consistency. It is primarily used to make internal or external prints as well as sectional prints of small and medium size parts. Due to its elasticity (20%), the specimen is easily removed. Small defects are faithfully reproduced. Softer (higher elasticity) prints are more difficult to slice with the special cutter. Prints are best measured as a whole.
K.V.A.D.: Has a pasty consistency. It is primarily used to make internal or external prints of medium and large sizes. Due to its low viscosity, prints are best achieved when product is spread in a sweeping motion over applicable areas. Very low in elasticity (1-2%), it is best suited for parts or areas where removal of the print will present no difficulty. This product is also used in a process called: "sandwich molding". Harder (lower elasticity) prints are easily sliced with the special cutter.
SANDWICH MOLDING: This process entails the use and combination of two "PLASTIFORM® " products to obtain internal or external prints of medium and large size areas. K.V.A.D., thanks to its consistency ensures mechanical rigidity, while B.A.D. or S.O.F.T. when in contact with the part will reproduce fine details accurately. Because these products have the same chemical properties, they link without bonding. Prints are easily sliced with the special cutter.
The "PLASTIFORM® " CASE: contains all the products and basic accessories required to produce prints and is practical for use in laboratories or in production environments.
"PLASTIFORM®" is a soft product that enables its user to make print moldings of internal and/or external complex machined parts. The print can then be inspected and measured on an optical device. Soft, print molding has become an inspection process in itself: PLASTISCOPY. Chemically based "PLASTIFORM®" products are packaged as two separate components. Polymerization occurs when equal portions of both components are mixed together. Before applying "PLASTIFORM®" products, the part or object must be cleaned of all impurities and stripped of all grease.
B.A.D.: Has a flowing consistency. It is primarily used to make total, internal prints of small and medium size parts. Due to its elasticity (10%), the specimen is easily removed. In most cases, B.A.D. reproduces the finest details and can be used for surface-finish inspection by visual comparison with master reference tools. Prints are easily sliced with the special cutter.
